Wayside Waifs

We're passing on the meow on something very important from Parker. Wayside Waifs helps lots of anipals get Forever Homes, and they are in the running for a really big award of lots of green papers. Let's get out there and vote, vote like a baby stoat (to quote Misha).

Woofy Wednesday

Insulted? Heck, yeah I was insulted. There I was, out for a pleasant little noon-time walk when an older couple passed by. They seemed like nice folks, so I didn't give them my usual cold stare, just a friendly one and wagged my tail a little, so they knew I was not a threat. The man said, "Hey, little guy," which I thought was border-line okay. Just because I'm 11 pounds doesn't mean I'm small. But he seemed harmless so I let it pass by. But the woman! OMG! She told me her cat was bigger than me! Insult! Insult! Even if it was true, it's still an insult!! - Cousin Max

Monday. Again.

Last night, Leia and I discussed the steak situation. This morning, we called our hoomin into the kitchen for a serious confab about her failure to give steak when steak is due. Kittehs must be firm with their humans.

I lounged on the kitchen table while Leia pranced back and forth from below, to open the meeting. Our Mom gave us both head and chin scritches and lots of generalized petting.

And then we totally forgot to talk about the steak thing! Frak! We see what you did there, hoomin.

Steak Steak Steak!!

O My Ceiling Cat, we luff steak!! LUFF LUFF LUFF it. We didn't even know that we luffed steak until Mom opened a package of cooked steak last night. The smell....ooooo the smell... brought us both running and demanding our fair share.

And do you think that ungrateful-for-her-wonderful kittehs hoomin shared with us?

No she did NOT!

She ignored us!

Woofy Wednesday

I was out on a walk the other day, when I saw my arch-nemesis - a squirrel darting across the sidewalk a ways ahead of me. So I bounded over to take care of it. Only to find that it wasn't a squirrel at all, but just a leaf. I looked at my person, but she missed the whole thing. Those humans can be so obtuse at times. - Cousin Max

When God Made Kittehs

When God made the world, He chose to put animals in it, and decided to give each whatever it wanted. All the animals formed a long line before His throne, and the cat quietly went to the end of the line. To the elephant and the bear He gave strength, to the rabbit and the deer, swiftness; to the owl, the ability to see at night, to the birds and the butterflies, great beauty; to the fox, cunning; to the monkey, intelligence; to the dog, loyalty; to the lion, courage; to the otter, playfulness. And all these were things the animals begged of God. At last He came to the end of the line, and there sat the little cat, waiting patiently.

"What will YOU have?" God asked the cat.

The cat shrugged modestly. "Oh, whatever scraps you have left over. I don't mind."

"But I'm God. I have everything left over."

"Then I'll have a little of everything, please."

And God gave a great shout of laughter at the cleverness of this small animal, and gave the cat everything she asked for, adding grace and elegance and, only for her, a gentle purr that would always attract humans and assure her a warm and comfortable home.

But he took away her false modesty.

No thanks, we don't want any Monday here.
Good day to you!

Early Sunday Morning

There's nothing like a few rounds of two-kitteh THoE about 5 am to get your hoomin's attention. Well, if she'd just get up and feed us when we ask nicely we wouldn't have to go crazy, would we?? But now we're tired and plan on day-long naps.

Woofy Wednesday

It happens when I least expect it. I'll be settled down for my nap in front of the couch, my person comfortably settled in the recliner and I know she's not going anywhere for a while. Then I wake up for a check and YEEKS! she's gone! So I search the entire place, even looking at the front door to see if she snuck out on me. Where do I usually find her? On the couch behind where I was sleeping. She just laughs and says, "It's so hard to sneak up on you, Max, I just couldn't resist."

Mancat Monday

Just taking a quick break from playing with my plushy 'nip squirrel. It's very popular around here, so I can't leave it alone too long, or that pesky Leia will get to it. You oughta hear the noises SHE makes when she gets it!

Terrier Thursday

Hey, if I want to sniff and taste that grey stringy stuff, what's she call it? Moss? I get to roll in that stuff if I want to. Don't know who she thinks she is, pulling me back. It looked verry interesting.

It's our very own Miss Daisy Curly Cat, posing as a LOLcat!! And just the other day, it was Melvin and Zoey over at Mouchois. And before that... the Gray Boys. It's all very exciting. Who will be next??

Chilly Days

These days, a kitteh must take advantage of any sun spot he or she can find. Mom says we're in the middle of a two week very-cold spell, so we're doing our best to stay warm. I found this spot yesterday. Leia wanted to share it with me but I went PFFFTTT!! and she left. It's MINE, I tell you, all MINE.

We're also happy to report that all the days of this week are Mom Days! She's on vacation from her day hunting place. AND she's not going off and leaving us, she's staying right here.

Napfully yours,
Toby and Leia

Exhausted Easy Like Sunday

Werk, werk, werk. Gotta wonder if our hoomins appreciate all the werk we do for them! Our Mom is always doing something that requires careful snoopervision. And of course we have to keep her company if she's doing something like reading. Or watching TV. Or on the Interwebz. Going from room to room, settling into another nap spot is very trying on the nerves.

So today we've declared ourselves off duty. We'll nap all day if we want to! She'll just have to look after herself for the day.
